This week we played the last session of Green League Division 1 fixtures, as well as the John Stewart Double Rink Knockout semi-finals.
Green League Division 1 has been very close this season, and going into the last day, Loch Leven faced Kinross Juniors in a tantalising top-of-the-table clash while Dunfermline (sitting close behind in 3rd) were prepared to try and steal the trophy with a big win over relegation-contenders Orwell. We played pre-season favourites, Kinross, in an important game that could possibly have seen either of us relegated, while Dunfermline Ladies played bottom team Forret in a match of little consequence.
Had Orwell taken points from Dunfermline, we would have been relegated, but with a trophy on the line that was unlikely. These top of the table fixtures finished with Kinross Juniors comfortably defeating Loch Leven to momentarily go top, and they would have won the trophy in their debut season at this level were it not for Dunfermline winning an all-important 6th end with the last stone of their game against Orwell (to steal the trophy by just 1 end)!
Meanwhile, we played out a very close game against Kinross, which came down to the last stone before finishing 6-6, which proved just enough for us to yet again avoid relegation by the skin of our teeth!
The John Stewart Double Rink Knockout semi-finals saw Kinross play Dunfermline, and us play Orwell (for the 7th time this season!).
The less said about these games the better: Let's just pretend that we were rewarding Orwell for saving us from Green League relegation the day before, yes!?
