Oops, we've not given a KCT Division 2 update since early January! At that time we had won a close game against Broomhall to sit 3rd in a very close league after 4 of 7 games.
Fixture 5, against Dollar, 31st January:
Our news reporter didn't play that game but was reliably informed it didn't go well. We lost 5-8 and fell back down to 6th in the league (bottom two get relegated).

Fixture 6, against Orwell Ladies, 28th February:
This round was postponed by Kinross Curling due to The Beast From The East snow storm.
Fixture 6 (take 2), against Orwell Ladies, 24th March:
Almost a month later we took to the ice for this much-anticipated match. Orwell Ladies always give a good competitive showing, and tonight was no different. Despite losing a 3 in the first end, they made us work hard for the rest of the game. With the last shot of the game we had a low-percentage chance of tying the game, but it didn't come off and we ended up losing 6-8. This loss slipped us down to the treacherous 7th place with one game left against 6th placed Falkland.

Fixture 7, against Falkland, 28th March:
Just like last season, we were going into the last league game of the season needing a win to avoid relegation. At the other end of the table, 2nd placed Orwell Ladies faced 3rd placed Dollar in a battle for promotion. All this made for a very exciting conclusion to the league. We faced 6th placed Falkland, so everything was in our own hands: Win and we'd be safe, draw and we'd need to earn a vast majority of ends to be safe, lose and we're relegated. From our earlier friendly against them we knew this wouldn't be easy, but nobody could have predicted the real outcome. It was a game where one team did earn the majority of ends, but it wasn't us! (It's best we don't mention the final score!)
The result kept us in 7th place, but at that point Glenrothes (in 8th) still had to play their postponed fixture against 5th placed Tulliallan. A few days later the result was confirmed, and despite losing that game, Glenrothes had earned enough ends to leapfrog us and dump us at the foot of the table.

So it's off to pastures new next season, where we will sample life in Division 3.
