The daytime of Saturday 28 October saw us play our annual Pairs competition. As usual, we had 8 teams for the first round sessions at 10 & 11 am, whittled down to our High Road Winners & Low Road Winners by 4pm.
3 out of 4 first round fixtures finished with one-sided scorelines, while the other was decided by a draw shot challenge after the scores were tied at 5.
From these results, the winners progressed to the High Road knockout, while the losers were relegated to the Low Road knockout.
Both the Low Road and High Road semi-finals finished with a close result and a one-sided result (indeed, one of the close-sided games went to another draw shot challenge, featuring one of the same teams as the previous challenge).
At this stage, the losers were eliminated while the winners progressed to their respective High & Low Road Finals.
The High Road Final saw our Secretary up against our President, in what nobody was referring to as 'The Battle of the Neighbours', as Alan Paterson (Secretary) & Keith McLachlan faced Shane Johnston & Andy Macpherson (President).
Meanwhile the Low Road Final saw Chris Browne & Euan Glover face Sid Grant and David West.
Those that stayed to watch the Finals witnessed a high standard of shot making and tactical play, albeit with more one-sided games.
High Road winners: Shane Johnston & Andy Macpherson.
Low Road winners: Sid Grant & David West.
