This evening we played our first game of the new year, in the fourth of seven Kinross Curling Trust League Division 2 fixtures.
Going into the game, there wasn't much between the top and bottom of the league, but we were sitting uncomfortably close to the relegation zone with tough games to come. First up was Broomhall, who were relegated from Division 1 last season.
Tasked with getting a respectable result from this tough game were Ian Nicholson, Andy Macpherson, George Cowan, and Jim Chalmers.
Despite struggling with the weight, Jim got most of his lead stones in good playing positions, George had a solid night at second, Andy made several big hits to clear danger, and Ian made many good tactical decisions to limit Broomhall's scoring chances. We could have had several high scoring ends had it not been for the opposing skip, Ian Duffin, playing some cracking draws and hits.
The final score, after seven ends, was 5-4 in our favour - and thanks to other results, we've now leapt up to 3rd place!

We have three games remaining (against Dollar, Orwell Ladies, and Falkland) and much like before, things could get very very interesting before the season ends!
