NAME: Sid Grant.
OCCUPATION: Retired. Former director at BNI (Networking expert).
OTHER INTERESTS: Walking, gardening, holidaying, and avoiding house work - usually to my wife's annoyance!
YEAR YOU STARTED CURLING: Years ago but around 1976.
JOINED FOSSOWAY BECAUSE: A former neighbour, Jim Smith, invited me along and they seemed a good friendly bunch. Now I know different, haha.
CURLING ACHIEVEMENTS: Played in the Family Christmas competition at Greenacres with my son Simon and two grandchildren, finishing 2nd twice.
Curled 2 ends of Pairs, for charity with Christopher Browne, in every Scottish ice rink during one weekend.
Also I'm heading off to Poland this week for a curling tournament with fellow Fossoway member, Ian Nicholson, and a couple of friends from Perth, Bob Arbuckle and Martin Priestly.
FAVOURITE POSITION WITHIN A CURLING TEAM: 3rd. It allows me to sweep then have a rest (needed when you sweep as hard as me), and shout at everyone else in the team.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT CURLING: Truly a team sport. Everyone is involved with every stone and great friendships develop... Even when some numpty mucks up a good stone (mentioning no names haha).
WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND OTHERS TAKE UP THE SPORT: Fabulous way to stay fit, interesting tactical game, and can't think of a better way to pass the winter.
WHAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST: Walk the West Highland Way. Drive the North Coast 500. Go up in a microlite. Continue to embarrass my family by causing enjoyable mayhem!
SHARE A FAVOURITE JOKE OR QUOTE (if you have one): Might get banned from everywhere if I told it here, but my youngest granddaughter has this one... "Why does six not like seven?" Answer: "Because seven ate nine"!
